A Writer's Toolkit and other Writing Notes by Rudy Rucker Full court press.

Think about your story a lot.? In bed before sleeping, in the morning when you awake.? In traffic.? Out jogging.? Walking.? It?s more fun than thinking about your personal problems and the state of the world at large!

Sketch both in words and drawings.? It helps to draw diagrams of your story, or even sketches of scenes.? Generally you should always take the time to draw a floor plan of a room that your characters are in.? It doesn?t have to be beautiful, but doing it is a way of focusing your mind and making the scene real.
