So I'm at the library and someone had a seizure. Another patron was a former EMT, and he took care of the man until the emergency workers arrived. Many people stood around and watched. Oddly, I was reading "When You Reach Me," by Rebecca Stead. One of the characters has epilepsy. The man in the library had not taken his medicine that morning, apparently.

A few years ago I was reading some William Gibson at the Provo Borders. I was at a point in the book where there was a motorcycle chase. I heard a loud thump and apparently a young woman had ridden her boyfriend's motorcycle into the brick wall of Borders.

I need to either take EMT courses, so I can be of some help when these things happen, or quit reading.
